Have you ever been locked in a vault and be able to open all the safety boxes inside? Diva – a brilliant story, is the diamonds & jewellery museum in Antwerp. Take a tour guided by your personal Butler (that’s how your audioguide present itself to you) and discover lots of fictional stories around the best pieces of precious jewellery you’ll find in town.
This museum used to be close to the Centraal Station, then moved to the historical city center, in the beautiful Suikerrui street: the old route of the sugar expeditions. Here’s a little presentation.
For a fair price of 10€ (audioguide in NL, FR and EN included), you get to discover this museum entering the 6 rooms where the most beautiful treasures are contained: The Wunderkammer, The Atelier, The International trading Room, The Dining room, The Vault, The Boudoir. Plus the little dakterras (the rooftop) from which you can admire the soon-to-be beautiful courtyard that is currently in restoration by some archeologist. The best part is the access to the mysterious bank vault where you can open all the safety boxes to find out more about the diamonds history. Also the Dining Room is very cool. What I really like about this place is that you can choose what type of visit you want to have: the audioguide explains you that in every room, you can either choose to hear about the historical facts or you can hear some fictional stories around a specific piece of silverware or jewellery.
Diva is a cashless museum and is open on Mondays (which is awesome considering all the other museums are closed on this day). It’s closing day is Wednesday instead.
