Why
A building with 90 years of history. You don’t notice it right away on the Turnhoutsebaan in Borgerhout. The façade safely guards the charming theater inside. By walking through the entrance you’ll witness the live exhibition of the history of the venue itself, full of new and old concert posters, old/vintage tickets and signs. When you are at the De Roma, you collapse into another century. It’s like a time machine, with music and art and Belgian beer you can order at the foyer. This venue was all renewed a couple of times. It was originally planned to be a cinema, buy people of the neighborhood really wanted it to turn it into a the place where art and culture come together at an affordable price.
What
This location is where Jazz, Blues, Bossanova, Ethnic and Classic music come to life. I watched Pink Martini, Selah Sue and other groups performing here. Everytime magic. A couple of times a month it turns into a cinema, screening movies.
