Why
De Muze means the muse. When entering the doors of this place you’re immediately transported into another time. De Muze is a venue where furniture never gets old, just elegant vintage. This jazz cafè is one of the oldest jazz venue in Antwerp. The place was founded in 1964 by Walter Masselis and Tone Pauwels. As from then many owners have changed, but not the fame nor che charm of this place. This is the café where Bohemians and Artists meet and share thoughts about politics, literature and music. This place was defined the ‘artistic temple’ of music. If you love jazz, that’s the place to be. You’ll smell the art in here, it’s all over the place.
What
Don’t forget to look closely at their tables, it seems that almost every customer over the years decided to leave a small carved present in the café before leaving.
Check out their agenda on their website: De Muze has jazz concerts almost everyday for the whole month, even on Sundays afternoon.
I’m not positive where you’re getting your information, but good topic. I needs to spend some time finding out more or understanding more. Thank you for fantastic info I used to be searching for this info for my mission.

Back in the 70’s, when I was still a child, I visited the muze every time our family came to Antwerp. And I and my brothers liked it a lot. In those days it wasn’t a jazz café, that came later. But it was a music café. Ferre rignard used to hang around there a lot. One day my father even made us a doll house based on the muze. I’m glad it still exists!
